Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.

Consistently working on this belief and with nearly 30 years of experience in IT consulting and delivery, Sandeep Raut has become one of the leading thought leaders in digital transformation in the country. Sandeep honed his knowledge by reading blogs, articles and tweets on every facet of digital transformation and conducting and attending workshops on the same. Deeply committed to enabling businesses to embrace digital transformation, Sandeep established ‘Going Digital’ at the start of 2018. The firm provides digital services and opportunities for businesses to implement Internet of Things (IoT), mobility, big data, and analytics in their everyday operations and thereby maintain their competitive edge in the global market. Sandeep provides his expertise to SMEs and businesses across various sectors such as banking, healthcare, retail, travel, manufacturing etc.

In conversation with GlobalLinker (GL), Sandeep Raut (SR) shares how he pursued his passion for all things digital to emerge as a digital influencer in the country.

GL: Tell us about your business and how it came into being.

SR: I firmly believe that digital transformation is a journey and not a destination. I had started writing a blog since 2011 and very soon came up with the idea of creating a platform to cater to the digital needs of SMEs. My idea was to help SMEs maintain a competitive edge in this fast-paced and evolving marketplace.

My company, Going Digital works with the prime motive of offering effective consultancy and workshops on building a digital vision and roadmap, aligning digital strategy, giving digital maturity assessment and customer journey mapping and providing digital marketing services.

If you look closely, even the most seasoned entrepreneurs are confused about terms like digital transformation, big data, analytics, IoT, mobility, and cloud. When I understood these concepts, I realised that most organisations require simplified and practical understanding of these game-changing concepts. I created a blog to make it easy for businesses to grasp these terms. My blog ranks at number three in the top 25 digital transformation blogs and websites on the web and that to me is validation of the fact that simple and actionable insights are always in demand.

GL: What are the challenges you have faced in establishing your business?

SR: Since the internet is accessible to almost everyone in the country and a large chunk of information is available at our fingertips, most people think that they can become a consultant on any topic. In this scenario, finding the right expert has become a difficult task. For a long time, I kept thinking about getting testimonials for myself and monetising my industry ranking and recognition. It was not an easy journey to become a ‘thought leader’ or having my name ranked as a top 10 digital transformation influencers in the country. For me, taking the decision of starting a consulting venture was the most challenging task. Rest of the process was relatively easier.

GL: How did you hear of GlobalLinker? How has it helped you?

SR: I heard about GlobalLinker through email marketing. It has helped to create a buzz for my business and added more contacts to my network. I enjoy contributing articles on the platform. I am looking forward to gaining a larger customer base with GlobalLinker.

GL: What is your big business dream?

SR: My dream is to become the first choice and a one-stop destination for clients to meet all their digital transformation needs. I am highly influenced by the top digital transformation leaders like Brian Solis, Ronald van Loon, Vala Afshar and others. Their journey and achievements keep me motivated to reach my goals and fulfil my dreams.

GL: What is your message to aspiring entrepreneurs?

SR: I would advise them to be experts in their field and to consistently provide value to the community and their customers, because entrepreneurship is a journey and not a destination.
