In the series leading up to the coveted Retail Startup Award, we’re reaching out to past winners to learn about their story, their first-hand experience with the awards and some advice for the new entrants. This time we reached out to winners of the 2019 Retail Startup Awards—Superbottoms. Navashya Consumer Products’ Superbottoms is owned and run by a team of mothers who are genuinely passionate about the idea of cloth diapering.

Pallavi Utagi, CEO & Co-Founder, Superbottoms spoke to us in an exclusive interview about the awards, what’s changed since and her learnings.

Excerpts…

What was your experience like at the Retail Startup Awards?

It was a brilliant experience where we got an opportunity to interact with stalwarts in the industry apart from some great startups doing work which we could learn from.

The biggest takeaway from the experience was the importance of a sustainable business plan. When the jury asked us questions, they were primarily focused on how the business will continue generating value in the longer run.

What has changed since you won?

Superbottoms has grown from strength to strength with our team and turnover growing five times since last year.

What was your biggest takeaway from the awards?

The biggest takeaway was the importance of a sustainable business plan. When the jury asked us questions, they were always primarily focused on how the business will continue generating value in the longer run too.

What is your advice for those who want to apply for Retail Startup Awards 2020?
