Construction in remote areas of the country is both essential and an incredibly challenging task. Many in the field of construction learn to their detriment that it is often impossible to acquire the kind of raw materials that you require on site. Shyam Tiwari, Co-Founder and CEO of SUBINFRA Project Management Pvt Ltd, was one such construction professional. What he saw as the most challenging aspect of building in remote locations he turned into an opportunity with SUBINFRA providing project management services taking care of the issues raised.

Surrounded by a dedicated team, Shyam has made working in remote locations easier for construction companies and the company has also provided employment to local people in the area. Providing such employment to native people in the locations they work for is an enshrined tenet of the company. They try and make a positive mark on the society of every place they work at.

In conversation with GlobalLinker (GL) Shyam Tiwari (ST) shares the story of his company and his vision for the future.

GL: Tell us about your business and how it came into being.

ST: I used to work in the field of construction. I always faced a problem when we were awarded projects in remote areas. The location of the project could lie around 400- 800 Kms away from our head office. Some times more than that as well.

Our major problems were that we always required industrial grade products as per the demands of the project, but we failed to obtain the full range of products required on site. To overcome such hurdles we started our venture SUBINFRA. Through our venture we are not only meeting product demand for projects at varied locations through vendor management but also providing career opportunities to the local people located nearby the project

GL: What are the challenges you have faced in establishing your business?

ST: We have faced many problems. Chief among them are issues with the IT support system. We learned along the way that every problem has a solution and by God’s grace we can find it.

After my initial days, I met Mr. Prateek, (Co-founder of SUBINFRA), Mr. Ankit Mittal (Director) , Mr. Yash, Ms. Preety, Ms Tiwari Supriya (Project Co-ordinator) and I would like to specially mention my IT team who resolved our basic problems day by day.

GL: What is the USP of your business?

ST: The main USP of our business is quality, transparency and real time business information, and connecting with small SMEs in remote areas.

GL: What are some of the milestones of your business?

ST: When we started up with our venture people thought having projects in remote areas would mean facing a lot of challenges when it came to vendors management. These issues were resolved and eventually we saw that projects were executed well within the time frames.

GL: What role do you feel GlobalLinker plays in connecting and assisting SMEs?

ST: GlobalLinker plays a fantastic role for SMEs in connecting decision makers in their respective fields and provides a great platform.

GL: What is your big business dream?

ST: Our big business dream is to generate business and careers for people nearby their native place where our projects are located.

GL: What is your message to aspiring entrepreneurs?

ST: Everybody has the potential to help society either through social welfare projects or through a business idea. Wait for the right time and implement that idea for resolving problems.
